There will be a pre-meeting course on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 (The Knee: Current Concepts on Perioperative Optimization and Surgical Management of the Knee Patient), instructional courses, plenary sessions, symposia, breakout subspecialty oriented sessions, and posters.

Dr. Jeff Macalena, 2017 Program Chair, and the 2016-2017 Program Committee have put together an outstanding program for the 2017 Annual Meeting. Some highlights of new and improved opportunities include:

  • Ask the Expert and Case Discussions on Thursday, April 20, during the Plenary Session. Two topics will be offered: Trauma and Arthroplasty. If you have an interesting or difficult case you wish to be discussed, you will have an opportunity to do so. The  MAOA office will contact all attendees about this opportunity closer to the time of the meeting.
  • Symposia during each Plenary Session. The topics (Value-Based Arthroplasty, Spine for the General Orthopedist, and Sports Medicine) will be presented by a 2-3 person panel who are experts in that particular area.
  • Spotlight lectures scheduled during the breakout sessions. An expert in that particular breakout session topic will be giving a short talk during the regularly-scheduled talks.
  • The Resident Quiz Bowl was a new event in 2016 and will be repeated at the 2017 meeting because of its popularity. The MAOA office will contact Program Chairs to put teams together.  10 teams (2 people/team) will be selected to compete.
