There will be a pre-meeting course on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 -- Essential Hip Topics:  Cradle to Grave -- jointly sponsored by MAOA and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR). Dr. Carlos Higuera and team will cover pediatric hip disease, sports, hip, young adult trauma, arthroplasty, and geriatric hip issues. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirement policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Educaiton (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Mid-America Orthopaedic Association.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons designates this live activity for a maximum of 28.5* AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Friday, April 20, 2018:

  • MAOA Golf Tournament  - 1:30 p.m. Scramble format (shotgun start), Hill Country Golf Club @ Hyatt Regency, $155/person
  • Best of San Antonio Tour - 1:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Guided by Alamo history interpreters, this 1-hour guided tour explores the heroes and events that have made the story of the Alamo captivating for generations of Texans and visitors.  The tour walks along the original footprint of the Spanish mission and ends inside the Alamo church.  All aboard!  After touring The Alamo, guests will cruise down the San Antonio River in a chartered river barge.  Take in the picturesque surroundings while learning about San Antonio Riverwalk culture and history.  After the barge ride, you will have a chance to visit the El Mercado shopping area. $120/person (includes transportation)
  • MAOA Tennis Tournament - 2:00 p.m.  Doubles tournament played on the Hyatt Regency Tennis Court, $35/person

Saturday, April 21, 2018:

  • Fredericksburg Wine Tour - 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A fun visit, tour, and tasting is planned to the Becker Vineyards in Fredericksburg (1 hour 20 minute ride from the hotel through the beautiful Hill Country area to Becker Vineyards--transportation included). The Becker Family aspires to maintaining the "Old World" feel at the winery with a reproduction of a late 19th century German stone barn, a style prevalent in the Texas Hill Country.  Becker Vineyards is a farm of 46 acres of estate fruit and lavender, along with the famous Stonewall peach orchards.  Taste award-winning wines and gaze upon the lavender fields, antique windmill, and artichoke test plot.  Shop after the tour and tasting, as time permits, for wine and lavender products.  A beautiful winery not to be missed!  $195/person (includes transportation)
