Mid-America Orthopaedic Association offers a variety of educational grants. These include:

  1. Multipurpose Resident Grants
We award three $4,000 grants each year to selected residents. The resident selected is expected to enlarge their horizon on research, travel, or study that they otherwise would not experience. Recent selectees have studied in India (hand surgery), Switzerland (acetabular reconstruction), and have performed research at their home institution. These grants are open to orthopedic residents in their third, fourth, fifth, or sixth postgraduate years (not a research or fellowship year) and are located in the 20-state Mid-America region.
The application deadline for the 2008-2009 Multipurpose Resident Grants is July 1, 2008. Click here for additional information. Application.

  2. Traveling Fellowship
This $10,000 prize is intended for the young researcher to expand their expertise and knowledge by association with other workers in their field. The fellowship must be done at an institution in the MAOA 20-state area. The application deadline for the 2008-2009 fellowship is July 1, 2008. Please note that the applicant must be under age 40 by the application date deadline, be Board-certified or have completed an approved orthopedic residency, and maintain a practice in and be currently located in the Mid-America 20-state region.
