The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort can be accessed by using the following airports:

  • Southwest Florida International Airport - Fort Myers (RSW) - 12 miles/20 minutes
  • Naples (APF) - 20 miles/30 minutes
  • Miami International Airport (MIA) - 140 miles/2 hours 10 minutes
  • Tampa (TPA) - 150 miles/2 hours 20 minutes

Attendees can arrange their own transportation to/from the hotel by rental car, taxi, Uber, Lyft, or Naples Transportation and Tours.

PRE-COURSE: Avoiding Problems and Addressing Early Failures in Primary THA/TKA and SCIENTIFIC MEETING INFORMATION
A pre-meeting course will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, from 7:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (Why Did This Joint Replacement Not Work Out as it Should Have? Avoiding Problems and Addressing Early Failures in Primary THA/TKA). The Thursday-Saturday portion of the MAOA 2020 Annual Meeting will include instructional courses, plenary sessions, symposia, ask the expert session, breakout subspecialty oriented sessions, and posters. Meeting in Brief schedule

Dr. Justin Siebler, 2020 Program Chair, and the 2019-2020 Program Committee have put together an outstanding program for the 2020 Annual Meeting. Some highlights:

  • Ask the Expert and Case Discussions on Thursday, April 23, 2020, during the Plenary Session. Two topics will be offered: "Spine" and "Foot and Ankle".
  • Symposium during each Plenary Session. The topics (Prosthetic Femur Fractures, Challenging Proximal Femur Fractures, and The Athlete's Shoulder in 2020) will be presented by a 2-3 person panel who are experts in that particular field.
  • Spotlight lectures scheduled during the breakout sessions. An expert in that particular breakout session will present a short talk, in addition to the regularly-scheduled talks.
  • Resident Quiz Bowl - All residents are invited to form a two-person team for this lively competition on Saturday morning.

Friday, April 24, 2020:

  • MAOA Golf Tournament - 1:30 p.m. Scramble format (shotgun start).  Raptor Bay Golf Course
    Cost: $150/person
  • MAOA Tennis Tournament - 2:00 p.m. Doubles tournament played at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort Tennis Courts
    Cost: $30/person
  • Shelling Cruise - 2:00-5:00 p.m. Eco-sightseeing shelling excursion. This is a very informative tour with a chance to see an abundance of wildlife in one of Southwest Florida's most pristine estuary bays where dolphins, ospreys, egrets, and herons can often be seen. A stop will be made at Lover's Key State Park where guests can comb the beach for a variety of shells.
    Cost: $60/adult, $60/child

Saturday, April 25, 2020:

  • Backwater Fishing - 2:00-6:00 p.m. Join a seasoned veteran guide to see the real Florida while fishing the Captain's favorite holes to reel in the catch of the day. The boats are 4-passenger vessels with a center console. All license, bait, and tackle are included. If desired, the chef at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort can prepare your "catch" (additional fees apply).
    Cost: $180/person
  • Wave Runner Tour - 2:15-5:30 p.m. Join All Water Excursions (AWE) on an exciting Wave Runner Tour with a guide who will take you on an unforgettable adventure through the Gulf of Mexico and Estero waterways.                                       
  • Cost: $350/wave runner (accommodates up to 2 people; includes transportation to marina)
