MAOA 2020 Annual Meeting Update: Meeting Canceled

After much consideration and discussion, the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting scheduled for April 22-26 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Many of the healthcare institutions in the U.S. have issued a travel ban over the dates of the MAOA meeting which precluded many presenters from attending.

Our team, like many of you, had been eagerly anticipating and preparing for this year’s meeting.  The ongoing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been a serious concern for us all, and its implications have substantially affected the logistics of the meeting. The health, safety, and well-being of the MAOA community is our highest priority.

What happens now? Will the meeting be rescheduled?
Unfortunately, due to presenter schedules and hotel availability, rescheduling in 2020 is not an option.

Since the meeting is canceled, will I get my registration fees refunded? If so, how soon can I expect to receive it?
In response to this unique and unexpected situation, the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association will be issuing full registration refunds.  No action is needed on your part.  The MAOA office will process the cancellations and if necessary, contact you directly regarding your refund.

Will attendees be refunded for hotel costs?
If booked through our web site*, MAOA will automatically cancel your existing housing reservation.  Refunds will be processed back to the original form of payment.

*Attendees who did not book through MAOA’s website must contact their hotel/lodging directly to cancel reservations.

Will attendees be able to get a refund for their airline tickets?
MAOA will not cancel or refund individual airline ticket costs.  You are responsible to cancel your airline ticket directly with the appropriate carrier.  Each airline has its own policies regarding refunds with changes happening daily.  You will need to work with the carrier directly to determine if you qualify.

We are disappointed that we must cancel the 2020 Annual Meeting but look forward to your attendance and participation at future MAOA meetings.

If you have any additional questions, please contact the MAOA office at 507-281-3431 or via email at [email protected].
